CLASH MAGAZINE - SHOPLIFTING 4 JESUS ALBUM REVIEW

8/10
Third album in two years from the Brixton acid house blues crew and with the Reverend Wayne Love firmly back on board, it's a return to religious undertones, with more than a hint of irony.  The band have unashamedly shoplifted from other srtists on this selection and, in their own words, "the only original thing is the barcode".  From Bob Dylan to Nirvana via Steve Miller, it's subtle, considerate and engagaing and adds up to a highly enjoyable excursion.  The band often defy close categorisation and it's that element of adventure that converts, along with grooves deep enough to sink your soul.
