"LOVE GUNS AND LIGHT ARROWS" PORTRAITS OF ALABAMA 3

An exhibition of exclusive paintings of Alabama 3 by Finola McFadden opens this week in Galway to coincide with the Galway Film Fleadh.

The exhibition is on at the Town Hall Theatre in  Courthouse Square, Galway.
It launches on 11th July  at 6 pm (all welcome) and is open to the public daily from the 12th to the 15th of July.

Finola McFadden explains:

“Everything is shown up by light and whatever is exposed to the light itself becomes light”
-St Paul.

In this exhibition I have painted the faces of Alabama 3 to convey their characters in abstract form, while at the same time their faces reflect, like a hall of mirrors, a nine year journey, each painting carries and conveys a predominant personal theme.

Alabama 3 say their music “It is not for the faint hearted” this is true. Sparked by an Alabama 3 concert a year ago upon my return from an 8 year journey in Egypt, listening to their music inspired me to delve into my own shadow and unanswered questions about life and death.

Touching on subjects of cloaked identity, distorted perceptions, unnecessary addictions, ancestral disharmony, suppressed wounds and hidden dark forces, I made an attempt to unveil what was no longer necessary or what hindered my authentic true self.

This process was at times quite dark, painful, bringing up unresolved fears to look and let go off. However like all dark tunnels once we are brave enough to walk through them, the light and love is always there.
