For their first foray into Australia in 2007, Alabama 3 sent the acoustic four piece band, Alabama 3 Acoustic and Unplugged, to blaze a trail for them. At the time this was Larry Love, Devlin Love, Rock Freebase and Harpo Strangelove (aka Nick Reynolds). They played two very well received gigs in Melbourne, two more in Sydney followed by one in Byron Bay Blues Festival.

You can hear Larry Love talking about the trip along with a live performance in Sydney on this clip from You Tube.

As well as spending their time playing gigs and writing new songs, they met some very interesting people.  Artist and sculptor Nick Reynolds (aka Harpo Strangelove, harmonica player) added to his collection of life masks  by making a new one of Australia's notorious underworld figure, Mark "Chopper" Read.

In April 2009 Alabama 3 returned, this time bringing the whole band with them!  They played again at the Byron Blues Fest, with two shows from the acoustic outfit and one full band show, as well as gigs in Melbourne and Sydney.

The gig at Sydney’s Metro Theatre was captured in its entirety on video by Moshcam.
