"Everybody with a passion for music went through Glasgow's renowned Clutha Vaults. I remember someone telling me Bob Dylan was down having a pint one day. It attracts characters like that because it's one of the last venue's of its kind, where all the old pub bards drink. It's in keeping with an incredible rock/ folk tradition.

I have many friends who lost loved ones in the Clutha helicopter disaster. I feel it's really important that Glaswegians pull together, like they all ways do, to support this benefit because really it could have happened anywhere to anyone. It shows you the fragility of life really. As a city, Glasgow has been very good to Alabama 3 through the years so we wanted to show our support for all the families and friends who lost people."

Alabama 3 are proud to be closing the Celebration of the Clutha on the 15th of Feb at The Barrowlands alongside Big Country, Len Price 3, James King and the Lonewolves, Frightened Rabbit (Acoustic), and many more in tribute to those affected by the Clutha Helicopter disaster. This all day benefit gig is to reflect, reminisce, and most importantly look forward to the future. The event will be a testament to the love for such venues in the city. As a People’s pub The Cluthas is more than a bar it is a community, a melting pot and it is in the hearts of many.

All of us connected with Alabama 3 were profoundly shocked when the news began to break on November 29th of a police helicopter crashing into the Clutha Bar in Glasgow. On tour at the time, we were only too aware that had this been the following Friday evening many members of Alabama 3 and our family and many of our friends and followers would have been drinking there before our gig. We were all anxious to hear whether people we knew had been personally affected, and so this became a very personal cause for us. It is a great honour that we have been chosen to participate in this fundraising day for the victims of the disaster.
