YOUR MAIL

These are just some of the comments we've received by e.mail lately.  Don't forget, as well as contacting us by mail you're all very welcome to join us in the backstage area to let us know what you think about anything Alabama related, or of course on our Facebook or Twitter pages.

A3: I sit here as an american 23-year old, wondering why i'm writing to you.  I dont know.  I am obsessed with so many different kinds of music that it disturbs me that I would feel the need to write to you. every genre moves me to feel this and that and that's what music is, right? it makes you feel a certain way or another. and that's why we listen...and I've rifled through a lot of indy albums.. awesome and awful.  but i've been listening to Alabama 3 since I was 13/14 and there is something about your sound that I've never encountered before.I am now 23 and  when I need a southern inspiration (sister rosetta, mansion on the hill, etc.), I leap to A3.  My sincerest hope is that you will continue to represent the complex portriat of the American South with all of it's complex nuances and conflictions of character

Please,can you help?

Hello,
I really hope you can help, it means so very much. You must get countless requests like this. Please, read before you delete...
My 13yr old son ***** breathes Alabama 3, wants to be just like them when he grows up, he practically worships the ground they walk on.I'm trying to start a "Wall Of Inspiration" for his room with autographs from those he idolizes most in the world & they're on his "Most Wanted List".Please, is there any way at all you can help or know of someone who can? I know they're extremely busy.If there's a way they could take a little time to send ***** their autographs that would be overwhelming.I can't explain to you how much it'll mean to him, he'd be absolutely speechless.I know he'd treasure them & they would take pride on his "Wall". ***** has such a devotion towards them. Please, please can you help a 13yr old from N.Z? I'd deeply, deeply appreciate it.Alabama 3 give so very much inspirationp; happiness to our home, believe me, *****'s definite proof of this! Please, can you help? He's a true heartfelt fan.
If you could just see how much my son loves them you'd understand why I'm trying.

Bearded Theory
I've been meaning to say this for a while, but have never found the right words. I've loved A3 for ages and see you guys every chance I get. I've always loved the version of Woodie Guthrie from Hits and Exit Wounds especially the Oldham name check. I grew up in Oldham and spent a long time battling against the facsist groups that seem to be so magnetised to the place, before moving to the much more sedate Derby, a place which despite being very similar to Oldham in many respects is much more tolerant, peaceful and altogether more inclusive and lovely.
Being a person who has been terroised by the BNP, DLF, C18 and the like in my home town and tried for many years to fight and protect it from the insidous hatred which spread like a cancer through the streets, often erupting into violence, rioting and murders.
The first time I heard your words about our tiny provincial town, who's problems are shared by so many other places and are so often felt in worse ways, I felt so amazed that anyone really cared enough to make it public. Knowing the song inside out I was loving singing along at Bearded Theory in May, but wasn't really prepared for the effect that a live performance would have. I honestly felt a surge of electricity run through me, that I was so far from home, in a field with a bunch of people who could never know all the chasings, the beatings, the fear and the rage that has been felt by so many people in a tiny community and the desire for that hatred to leave and allow our communities to rebuild and heal and respect each other for the good of the whole town. For you to have felt the need to include us and highlight us means such a tremendous amount. Listening to the song today on an MP3 and allowing myself to feel all of that all over again walking down the street I burst !
 into
tears that someone actually cared and felt the solidarity to include us.It felt as if even though Oldham is a tiny, effectively dying little town in the North, someone finally understood what is going on and wanted to share with the world how hard it is to fight against all the problems we face.
Thank you for hearing us and thank you for paying attention to us, I'm not really sure that I can express how much your song means to me, but I really wanted you to know that every time I hear it I feel as if you're singing to us all. Thank you x

The gigs
Hi, we have just got out tickets for the Hull Uni gig, for one we only have to travel 10miles to see you, we live just outside of Hull.
We last saw you in Holmfirth and you played 'dance to techno' for us.  excellent i wish more bands appreciated their fans like you seem to.  We had an adventurous journey back to Oldham where we were staying that night ready to see James Hunter the following night.
Anyway good luck with tour and we will see you in Hull.

Leicester concert

I had the misfortune to be at your concert on 18th july in The Donkeyin Liecester. firstly I thought the behaviour of your "band" was totally unprofessional and if you were chargeing the amount I heard you should have been far more proffesional. I was also verysurprisedat the standard of "singing" as a member of three choirs (albeit amature) I would not call what I heard singing. The male lead talked/shouted thoughout all the songs in almost a monotone. I do not know if you consider yourself a rap band but that seems about your level and as a singer I always think that rap is missing the first letter (which is obviously a "c").I think that about the only tuneful part of you concert was when the band went quiet and the audience sang, and as a rule the audience cannot actually sing, but this was a when they were far better than the band. My fiancee actuall bought the tickets, which cost us £17.50 EACH, andfrom what we heard that was at least £30 more than the concert was worth. Please remember that the people going to you concerts are paying you anddeserve to be treated with repectsnot contempt and personally I think it might be nice if your lead snger could actually sing, which from wat I saw he cannot. I think by definition a song contains more than one not andshould have some melody.

M.O.R.

I know this is years after the event, but I was listening to MOR last night with my headphones on, and durign the track 'The Klan' I heard my mobile get a message. After walking across the room, my phone did not have a message. No one else in the house had a message. The Klan, 2m 10s in, you can hear a mobile phone go off. Another reason to love your work. Keep it up! All the best etc.

****************************************************************************

Please settle an argument....

In the 90's my son watched a prog on childrens television - opening credits featured cartoon creatures stomping around to what sounds very like the 'moothie' part in '12 Step Plan' - I think the prog was called 'Diggit'. Am I imagining things?

Australian Tour and Wish

Heya,
Thankyou so much for coming to Australia again, me and my sister had a fun and entertaing night at Toff in the Town Melbourne (front table). I already look foward to another visit and your upcoming album, tracks chosen by the people, for the people! I wish to ask that, and im sure many have the same wish, that Alabama3 one day do an acoustic album of the tracks played during your tour in Oz, I know you had tracks on Power in the Blood album, but a single album with many of the tracks gone acoustic would be fantastic. I wish you guys (and gal) all the best for the future, and here is to "Flyin with you, and never coming down!".

Melbourne Show

I saw the Band at The Corner Hotel last night here in Melbourne....I have waited so long to see them in their full glory, and my senses raced as soon as I heard that trademark sound herald their arrival on stage and then went into sensory overload with a great show, monster sound and wonderful connection with the crowd....we may not have been big in number but we loved them with all our hearts....I have not stopped smiling and humming and singing to myself since...Please, please come back soon....and with a promoter here in Melbourne at least who has some bloody idea about what the band is and how to let Melbourne know that they should treat themselves to one of the great, great bands....maybe we could work on a musical twin cities idea with Brixton ad Melbourne!....thanks again to all

Rothbury Festival

Just wanted to write and thank you so much for your mind blowing performance at the Rothbury Festival. I have been attending festivals for years and always see someone I never have heard or seen and you folks blew me away. I fucking loved what you guys are doing. I had no idea you were the ones who did the Soprano's theme either. You guys are AMAZING and easily the most innovative and interesting band I saw all weekend at Rothbury. Considering the line-up that was there, that is saying A LOT!!! ALABAMA 3 RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

****************************************************************************

Mindblowing

Oi you blew my mind and body, it was unknown to me beforehand of how i can dance so freely until i danced at your concert at rothbury. i wore no shirt and moved with a group of us having the best dance party ive ever been too. we were to your right for you on stage, I have longer hair and there was also a cute blonde girl.  I felt you were talking to me about being bad influences on each other. i am not sure if you were or have any clue who i can be  but you molded everything that night, my soul was enflamed with dance and passion i have not felt before, my energy WAS FLOWING LIKE A RAGING RIVER! you opened doors i did not fathom.

 Oh my dear Lords!

I beg all of you to consider my inclusion in your congregation to gain your guide for my live on this earth and in a possible after world.

If you command me so, I will put my humble soul and heart to spread
the true faith in your creed through this Spanish East coast where I live and wherever I go.

The Music

I live in Rome Georgia, about an hour or so from Atlanta. We saw an episode of the Sopranos and screw the show-we wanted the music!Took me six months to find Exile...but when I did I found a promotional copy that also has re-mixes on a second disc.We listened to Exile and proceeded to aquire everything else ya"ll have done. We are mesmerized, dancing, crying, feeling the gospel, trancing out..Since we "Americans" are living under an idiot who has destroyed the entire world, including his own country, to hear A3's music is to feel like there might be hope somewhere.I've never heard such a blend-blues,gospel,rock,acid-hell, it's all there and I just hope(in whatever form) ya'll never go away. Can we come live with you?

****************************************************************************

Appearances

I'm not one of those half ass fans who ran out and bought a copy of the Sopranos soundtrack after "Woke up this mornin" was made the theme.  I actually heard you first on a sample CD from a local radio station years before and bought Exile shortly after.

Anyway, not that me being a real fan makes any friggin difference anyway.

I always read about how awesome your live shows are.  When are you going to be in the US?  WTF?

****************************************************************************

Innovative
Guys, I'm a musician and have played four instruments since i was four years old.  I have also taken over 140 acid trips and other hallucinogens.  You guys are fucking crazy, who would've ever thought to put country and acid house together...I don't really know what I want to say other than that I actually live in Alabama in the states birmingham to be exact and my band name is brixton and then i found out youse guys are from brixton and i don't know i found that funny...anyways have a good one...keep making awesome original music.

American fan...

 ****************************************************************************

What's up gentlemen?  I just wanted to let you know that I've been waiting for a new LP for a while now and by golly one finally hit the shelves though I'm still looking where to find a copy.  Anyway, I want to see you live!  Are you planning on touring the US, New England in particular anytime soon?

I drop your stuff at gigs all the time (I'm a DJ) and people always come up and say something like, 'Who the fuck IS that?'  A3 baby, I answer, the best thing since since my old man let me pick up the chainsaw by myself (he's an arborist).  Keep kickin' it.  You guys are my heros...

****************************************************************************

Are you crackers ever coming back to the States?

I have prayed every day to God and Santa Claus and Elvis for a visit from Alabama 3, but so far my prayers have gone unanswered.

****************************************************************************

Aberdeen

Hi!!So glad you are touring in April but why no Aberdeen gig!!  We love you in Aberdeen!!  Always a sell out when places don't feck up the gig dates!)  COME BACK COME BACK.  I don't want to travel to Dundee, I will have to drive and won't be able to get pissed and throw  my knickers at Larry Love ;)

Life is so unfair :(

****************************************************************************

Reverend Dr. D. Wayne Love!!!

I really hope this makes it to the band.

I've been a fan for about 3 years now, I LOVE the music, and I love the lyrics. I just wanted to ask you guys to please keep releasing records.

"U Don't Dans 2 Tekno Anymore" came just at the right time for me, and played a big part in my decision to stop with the chemical loving ;)

Reverend D. Wayne Love! Damn I love the style. This is a standard fan line, but damn I love to meet you someday, i'll hit one of your gigs wearing a psychedelic hat or something...

Quick question, do you guys still live the UK? That'd really top it all off for me, my favourite band, and BRITISH! Oh yes.

This isn't the last you've heard from me ;)

Keep it up, keep the faith, keep it real.

Much Love.

****************************************************************************

Thanks for coming

Just got in from the Basement in Sydney gig, had to write to thank you so much for coming down. Wonderful show. Last gig I saw in London was in Dec 2003, just before I moved here, Alabama 3 at The Astoria. Tonight even with the cut down crew you were fantastic. Two things i miss about the UK, is QPR and Alabama 3. Don't think QPR will play in Europe and never thought A3 would get down here. Anyway thanks, it was a great evening.

All the best for Byron Bay, surely the the best place in the world, enjoy.

Lyrics&amp: - Your Awsomeness!

First of all I would like to say thank you to all of you for your
amazing music! I manage to see you at the Junction in Cambridge and it was one
of the best if not the best gig I have ever seen and to top that all of your
albums are emmence! My one slight quible is the impossibleness to get hold of
your song lyrics. Would it be at all possible to add them to future album covers
or add a page on this website with them on! Dw if this is not possible but it
would be greatly appreciated!

Anyway Top Effort and keep up the good work!

P.S could you play again in Cambridge sometime please?

SLIGO MUSIC FESTIVAL PLAYLIST?

Hello you wonderful people,

I've just got back from sligo and wanted to know what the play list was at the
Raddisson Hotel on the 26th of October.

I was mentally, physically and spiritually blown away that night, and
neeeeeeeeeed to know what i was hit by.

My sister and I were taking our dad back to his native land for the first time
in 50 years, I booked the raddisson and she booked the tickets for your show, i
had no idea who you were, and just went with the flow. We got dad settled and
proceeded to get ready ourselves. Amongst the many wonderful coinsidences that
week, i will never forget that night for as long as i live! it touched my soul.

Yours enlightened.

Wake up to you every morning!

I've been listing to your CDs for years - fantastic  combination of music, vocals & lyrics! I "wake up to you" every  morning while working out with Russian Kettlebells.  (www.RussianKettleBells.com) There is no better music for swinging  kettlebells and I never get tired out it! I just thought you might  find it amusing/interesting that your music is great for this type of  ballistic workout. I can't wait for M.O.R. to arrive! (Being in the US  I have to special order it.) Thanks for the best music ever!

Filthy Communists

Dear Messrs Sprag and Rab,

By mere happenstance, I found myself being subjected to your combos demented
lunacy the other evening during a soiree in the Gorbals region of Glasgow.
Generally, I regard myself as moderately liberal in my views, but, I must say
that if there were ever grounds for outlawing a genre of music, your material
without doubt would certainly qualify!
Never have I heard such utterly depraved
insurrectionist filth in my life!
Unquestionably, you are the best band in the
land!

Good Shit! I am an American who by in large HATES country. You guys bring a whole
new generation into the fold. I don't know if what you do IS called country or
if you call it that! I found your music through the Sopranos like most Americans
(I suspect). The web calls your music country. I think they are ignorant or
haven't listened to your music. Anyway, Let me be the last to tell you I like
it. I was interested in the song (From the Sopranos) and researched you on the
internet. I'll tell you, if I was an ordianry user, I would have stopped there
or maybe purchased a Sopranos soundtrack.  I decided to employ  questionable
methods of obtaining your music. Only then was I able to here EVERYTHING you
have done. "Woke up this morning" is a small portion of what you have to offer.
I will now make an effort to purchase your albums for my collection. Thanks for
being innovative in what you do.

Concord Brighton - no tickets, bugger!
Cripes guys - time you booked a slightly bigger venue. Went to book
tickets for daughter and self (last time I am likely to see you as moving
overseas in January - any chance you might visit super cool Cape Town?) only to
find - ALL GONE TICKETS! So now I am going to go and sulk in the corner of my
room, and mumble to myself ...

Woke up this morning
Got myself some gum;
Thought I'd get me some tickets
To see the Chosen ones

I'm one in a million
Thought it'd work out jes fine;
Logged onto the internet
Get me tickets in a shine

Checked the ticket outlets
But all of them were gone;
Now I'm under a bad sign
With a blue moon in my eyes

Now the worlds turned upside down
Things cain't be the same
I ain't feeling so fine (shame about it)
Ain't no Alabama tickets to be mine.

Woke Up This Morning saved me

Hello all,Just wanted to let you know how much "woke up this morning" has meant to me.  2
and a half years ago I was suffering from severe heart failure.  This song
helped me turn things around, and draw a line in the sand to fight for what I
belive in.   I recorded a cover version on the Ukulele to open my latest CD
about my life's events.

http://www.seantiwanak.com/

This song really did help save my life.  I listened to it everyday for months as
I sorted through the rubble of my life to rebuild something from the ashes.  The
song also reminds me of my history as a Hawaiian.

Thank you.  I hope you like my take on the song.

I just can't figure it out!? I am a square middleaged housewife who has a cottage industry sewing athome. I have all of your CDs and listen to them A LOT> OK, even though I do
listen over and over, I just can't figure it out???? Are y'all drug crazed
commie cult figures? Or re-habilitated evangelistic socialists? Or just goofing
off? I mean, obviously, I like it. I just don't know what the intent is. Please,
I am going crazy playing songs over & over & certain children are getting pissed
off at me so, ???????

Hey, Alabama3!
I'm not precisely a great TV fan, so I don't bother paying for HBO. Some weeks
ago I decided to rent the full Sopranos series.
You may have received thousands of comments like this, so may imagine what's
next:

Yeah... fell in love with "Woke Up This Morning". Even my girlfriend did (and
that's too much to say)!
So I decided to do some research. And here I am and, having listened to your
singles, must say your music is awesome.

Having read some of the site's contents, I must say you seem to be so ironic,
funny and positive, and I'd really like to see you live.

The problem: would you ever come to visit me in Argentina? I know you're rich, I
know you won't bother spending some time with third-worlders... but show some
sensitivity, please!!!!

Havin' said that, and knowin' for sure I'll have to be the one who travels (and
a travel to England is in my plans, but not in my wallet yet...), it's time to
say goodbye. Meet you when I'm 40...50 maybe (31 right now and counting)!!!

Congratulations, and you've earned a new fan and, most important, album
purchaser!!!

Huge fan since seeing you at the Fleadh in London before I migrated to Oz, got all your CD's, passed on to 0thers who are also huge fans...and we all wonder if
you will ever visit the land down under, in particular
Sydney........PLEASE?????!!! xoxox

Hi all,
Loved your set at the Secret Garden Party this weekend. In fact I got so carried
away I proposed to my girlfriend during the set!!
Can you send me the set list for Friday night so we can remember the night
better... ??

**********************************************************************************

You were wonderful. I kind of knew it was going to be a good gig but I
was still surprised by the sheer energy and the virtuosity of the musicans, let
alone the dancers and singers. I did'nt make it to Eamon Doran's, next time.
Thank you.
